The Youth Financial Summit is first-ever all-inclusive event for young finance enthusiasts. Hosted virtually, the annual event allowes participants to learn from esteemed professionals, test their skills against students from around the world, and network with like-minded individuals.

YFS Spring 2022 Recap

The first Youth Financial Summit on February 26th, 2022 had an incredible turn out with students across the world tuning in and participating. We had over 150 unique participants from over 20 countries and 6 continents. The summit was a holistic event, allowing participants to learn from the likes of Howard Marks and Avanidhar Subrahmanyam while allowing them to put their skills to the test and earn thousands in prizes.

Hear from and ask questions to billionaire, renowned investor and Co-Founder of Oaktree Capital, Howard Marks. The Q&A will cover Mr. Marks’ early life, how he developed an interest in finance, his early career, the journey to build Oaktree Capital, his insights on hot topics, and advice for youth.

Networking Event

Network with like-minded finance enthusiasts through speed networking. Participants are able to network with one another through brief exchanges.

Avanidhar Subrahmanyam

Distinguished Professor of Finance at the University of California Los Angeles

Professor of Finance Avanidhar Subrahmanyam is an expert in stock market activity and behavioral finance. He is known for his pathbreaking research in the use of psychological principles to explain stock price movements and has published numerous articles in leading peer-reviewed finance and economics journals.

His scholarly efforts have been recognized through numerous awards and accolades.

Subrahmanyam has served as a consultant to the Nasdaq Stock Market, the National Stock Exchange in Mumbai, India, San Jose Mercury News and Irwin/McGraw-Hill. He is a UCLA Anderson Inspirational 100 alumnus.

Howard Marks

Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of Oaktree Capital Management

Howard Stanley Marks is an American investor and writer. He is the co-founder and co-chairman of Oaktree Capital Management, the largest investor in distressed securities worldwide. In 2020, with a net worth of $2.1 billion, Marks was ranked No. 391 on the Forbes 400 rankings of the wealthiest Americans.

Mr. Marks is renowned for his insightful assessments of market opportunity and risk. After four decades spent ascending to the top of the investment management profession, he is today sought out by the world’s leading investors, including the likes of Warren Buffet. Mr. Marks is admired in the investment community for his “memos”, which detail his investment strategies and insight into the economy .

Prior to the formation of Oaktree in 1995, Mr. Marks led the groups at The TCW Group, Inc. He was also Chief Investment Officer for Domestic Fixed Income at TCW, the Vice President and senior portfolio manager at Citicorp Investment Management, and Citicorp’s Director of Research. Mr. Marks holds a B.S.Ec. degree cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a major in finance and an M.B.A. in accounting and marketing from the Booth School of Business of the University of Chicago.
